Passion-Based Projects: Intermediate Example - Part OneBilly Joe*, a 6th grader, was having trouble deciding on a central question for his Genius Hour project. He often spent his days caught in different thoughts, but had so many questions swirling around his head, he didn’t know where to start. He began trying to brainstorm to help focus his topic:
By the end of his brainstorming, Billy Joe had decided that he wanted to focus on some sort of puzzle that a lot of people have trouble solving. He started with this central question: What is a Rubik’s Cube?
He looked again at his question and decided that it was too easy to answer and did not require a lot of research. He brainstormed a little more and came up with this central question:
Why is a Rubik’s Cube so hard to solve?
Happy with this question, he submitted his project topic to his teacher for approval.
